Terrific Two’s. Love, Gratitude & #Epiversary

Ladies and gents. My dearest Epicentr is now two years old! To show our love and gratitude, my partner-in-crime, Angela and I decided to throw a party to our community and supporting partners. Over the past two years, we’ve had 50+ students go through our program and have helped 11 local businesses/ non-profit organizations with their social media presence. A great number of students have since moved on and used their experience with Epicentr to find co-ops, internships, and big boy & big girl jobs! Sometimes warmly referred to as ‘Epi-mama’, I am one proud lady with the biggest smile on her face.

This past year has been an especially incredible journey, with countless memories and many friendships formed along the way. Shout out to the folks at Junction Creative Solutions, The Network Hub, The Social Media Network, and all you babes out there that have been a part of Epicentr – we literally couldn’t have done it without all your lovely faces. Epicentr is yours as much as it is ours. I cannot express how grateful we are to have this opportunity to shake up Vancouver’s social media scene. Here’s to many more years to come. Hip hip hooray!

Epicentr is a passion project of mine and I hold it very dear to my heart. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have had mentors along the way that believed in me and saw the potential that I didn’t know I had. Their trust and encouragement means the world to me and for that, I am overflowing with gratitude.

“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.” (Maya Angelou)

The greatest satisfaction I receive is helping others realize their potential and find work experience in this increasingly competitive market. I am driven by gratitude so while I don’t expect much, a simple, genuine ‘thank-you’ goes a long way. I’m not in it to make money, in fact it’s so far on the agenda that’s it’s fallen off the page. I believe that turning Epicentr into a business would take away from it’s primary objective, no longer would my motivations be about giving back and helping students, instead it would making money.  Sometimes, love is the best reason to do something – and that’s more than enough reason for me.

Additional shout out to Sugar Craft for those epi-cupcakes. They tasted as good as they looked. Also to our Designer, Kateryna Jones who just blows my mind with her craftiness.
